The 15 yard container in Aurora, CO

The 15 yard container bridges the gap between our smallest box and the more common 20 yard, and it earns its place in the size lineup for two kinds of Aurora-area jobs in particular: a kitchen or bathroom remodel with real volume to it, and a single-layer asphalt shingle tear-off on a smaller ranch or single-story home. With about a foot more wall height than the 10 yard and a longer bed, it holds noticeably more without stepping up to the bulkier footprint of a 20.

It is also a solid choice for a combined project — say a garage cleanout paired with an attic clear-out, or a small addition's framing scraps alongside old siding. If your job is somewhere between "small" and "whole house," a 15 yard is worth a call before you default to the next size up. Reach us at (720) 674-7563 and we will talk through what is actually going in it.

Sized right for a single-layer roof tear-off

Hail is a fact of life along the Front Range, and a hail-driven roof replacement is one of the most common reasons Denver-metro homeowners call us for a container. Asphalt shingles are heavier than most people expect once you're pulling off an entire roof's worth, and that weight — not the roof's square footage alone — is what actually sizes the dumpster. For a single layer of shingles off a smaller home, roughly up to about 15-20 squares, the 2-ton allowance on a 15 yard is usually enough room to work with.

Two layers of shingles, a steep pitch, or a larger roof typically pushes the job into 20 yard territory instead — tell your roofer or the crew doing the tear-off what size roof and how many layers are coming off, and we can size it correctly before delivery. Our roofing dumpster rental page has more detail on how tear-off weight is estimated.

Remodels, cleanouts and combined projects

A full kitchen remodel — cabinets, countertops, flooring and drywall — or a bathroom gut with some structural work fits well in a 15 yard, as does a garage-plus-attic cleanout where the volume adds up faster than a single-room job. It also handles a decent-sized deck demolition or old fencing removal alongside general household debris.

If your project is closer to a whole-house scope, our 20 yard is the more common choice — see the size comparison on our sizes page for a side-by-side.

Suitability

Is the 15 yard the right size for you?

Choose the 15 yard for

  • Kitchen or bathroom remodel
  • Single-layer asphalt shingle roof tear-off (smaller home)
  • Combined garage and attic cleanout
  • Mid-size deck or fence demolition

Pick a different size for

  • Two-layer or steep-pitch roof tear-offs
  • Whole-house renovations
  • Heavy loads of concrete, brick or rock — a 10 yard is usually cheaper for pure heavy debris

Placing a 15 yard container on an Aurora-area property

This is a popular size during Colorado's spring and summer hail season, when a single storm can send several roofing crews through the same Aurora or Commerce City block within days of each other. Because roofing debris is weight-limited, we ask for the rough square footage and number of shingle layers up front so the 2-ton allowance is not a surprise on pickup day. Call (720) 674-7563 to check same-day or next-day availability during a busy storm stretch.

15 Yard Dumpster — questions we get asked

Will a 15 yard dumpster hold a full roof tear-off?

It depends on the roof. A single layer of asphalt shingles on a smaller home, roughly up to 15-20 squares, usually fits within the 2-ton allowance. A larger roof or a second layer of shingles typically needs a 20 yard instead — tell us the square footage and layer count and we will size it correctly.

What is the difference between a 10 and a 15 yard dumpster?

The 15 yard is about 4 feet longer and half a foot taller, holding roughly 4-6 pickup loads versus 3-4, with a 2-ton weight allowance instead of 1-2 tons. It suits kitchen and bath remodels and single-layer roof tear-offs that outgrow the 10 yard.

How much driveway space does a 15 yard dumpster need?

Plan on about 24 feet of clear, level driveway run and roughly 23 feet of overhead clearance for the delivery truck's hoist. Call (720) 674-7563 if your driveway is tight, sloped or shared with a neighbor.

Can I mix roofing debris with other remodel waste?

Generally yes, but let us know what is going in so we can size the container for the combined weight. Shingles alone can max out a 15 yard's tonnage even with room left in the box, so mixing in heavy remodel debris on top of a full tear-off may call for a larger size.
